The Dream Takes Root follows the survivors of The Dream That Carried Us as they begin building new lives in New Orleans. In this collection of connected short stories, the family they have formed carries its memories, grief, and hopes into an unfamiliar world. Through everyday acts of care and the gradual rediscovery of joy, they begin to find themselves again—and make a home where the next generation can take root.
